2026 ICIC CSO Declaration: Access to Information as a Pillar of Information Integrity

The Centre for Law and Democracy regularly participates in the International Conference of Information Commissioners (ICIC), an annual, global gathering of right to information oversight bodies. For the second time, the 2026 ICIC, held in Freetown, Sierra Leone, featured a dedicated civil society day. Participants in the 2026 civil society day adopted a declaration titled “Access to Information as a Pillar of Information Integrity”. The declaration, which CLD helped to draft and which is available here, includes a number of calls to improve information integrity, including through taking various steps to strengthen access to information.
