This series of reports maps the legal environment governing the ability of civil society to operate freely across five regions. Civil society can best flourish if a country has put in place an enabling legal environment that supports organisations’ right to organise, communicate, research, advocate and fundraise freely. These reports examine the legal frameworks of selected countries and identify the most problematic laws and policies, with the goal of encouraging reforms. The reports were commissioned by Transparency International in 2018.
The reports cover the following regions: Asia Pacific, Europe and Central Asia, Latin America, Middle East and North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa.
